SEO expert in Pakistan: what to check before you hire anyone

I am Muhammad Usman Ali, an independent SEO consultant based in Pakpattan, Punjab, Pakistan. I work alone, and I work with clients across Pakistan by call and WhatsApp.

Keyword stuffing and bulk blog comments no longer work in Pakistan or anywhere else. Many Pakistani customers search on a phone, so a site has to work well on mobile, load quickly, and back up a correct Google Business Profile.

How results are shown here

Every number on this site opens the Search Console or rank tracker screenshot it comes from, with the date range and what the screenshot does not prove.

What I Work On

  • Crawling and indexing fixes, including filter and sort URLs.
  • Google Business Profile fixes, listings, and reinstatement help.
  • Visibility in Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT, with no invented numbers.

Key takeaway

A good SEO expert in Pakistan explains the cause before selling the cure, works from your own Search Console data, and never promises a position on Google. Check who owns your accounts, what you get each month, and what the work costs in PKR. This guide shows you how to judge anyone, me included.

Who this guide is for

Most people reach this page after a bad experience or before a first one. Some paid a monthly fee for a year and cannot say what was done. Others are about to hire and want to avoid the mistakes they have heard about from friends. Both groups need the same thing: a way to tell real work from activity.

This is for you if

  • You own or run a business in Pakistan and want more enquiries or orders from Google.
  • You are comparing a freelancer, an agency and an independent consultant and want to know what each one sells.
  • You already pay someone for SEO and want to check whether the work is sound.
  • You serve customers in one city, several cities, or abroad, and need to know if distance matters.

Skip this if

  • You want a name from a ranked list of experts. I do not publish one, and I do not trust the ones I have seen.
  • You want someone to promise first place by a date. Nobody honest can, and Google says so.

I am Muhammad Usman Ali, an independent SEO consultant based in Pakpattan, Punjab. I wrote this guide to hiring an SEO expert in Pakistan from the questions owners ask me on their first call. Use it to judge anyone you talk to. If you then want to talk to me, the details are at the end.

What an SEO expert should actually do for you

Google publishes a short list of what a useful SEO provider does. It includes a review of your content and structure, technical advice on hosting, redirects and error pages, keyword research, content work, training, knowledge of your market, and advice on generative AI. Nothing on that list is a secret trick. It is ordinary, careful work.

In practice, the work falls into a few areas. A service business that serves one city usually needs its Google Business Profile and its service pages fixed first. My page on Map Pack work for shops and clinics covers that kind of job. A site with hundreds of pages often has crawling or indexing faults that block everything else, which is where repairs to crawling, speed and indexing come in.

Online shops have their own problems. Filters create thousands of near copies of one category, and product pages compete with each other. Category and product work for online shops is a separate job for that reason. Content work means writing or rewriting the pages buyers read before they call. AI answer work means making sure assistants can read and quote your pages.

Any SEO expert in Pakistan worth hiring should tell you which of these you need first, and which you can ignore for now. If someone sells you all of them at once in a single bundle, ask why each one is needed for your site. The answer should point to your own data, not to a template.

Freelancer, agency or independent consultant

In Pakistan you will meet three kinds of seller. Each can be honest or not. What differs is what you pay for and who does the work.

What you want to knowMarketplace freelancerAgencyIndependent consultant
Who does the work? The person you hired, or someone they pass it toA team, often junior staff under a managerThe consultant, with your developer or writer where needed
What is usually sold?A fixed task or a gig with a set number of linksA monthly bundle with a reportDiagnosis, a plan, and the work or review of it
Who do you speak to?The freelancer, through the platformAn account managerThe person doing the thinking
Main riskCheap link work that harms the siteActivity reports that hide a lack of progressOne person has limited hours each month
Best fitA small, clear task you can check yourselfA large volume of routine workA problem that needs judgement more than hours

None of these is right for everyone. A shop that only needs its profile cleaned up can hire a careful freelancer and check the result. A brand that publishes hundreds of pages a month may need an agency's volume. An independent consultant suits problems where the cause is unclear, the stakes are high, or the last provider did not help.

My model is the third one. I do the diagnosis and the plan myself, and I either do the work or review it before it ships. I do not hand your account to a junior after the sale, because there is no junior to hand it to. That also means I take on a limited number of clients at a time.

Red flags in the Pakistani SEO market

These are the patterns owners describe to me most often, and the ones that come up again and again in forum threads about hiring. Any one of them is a reason to ask hard questions. Two or more is a reason to walk away.

  1. 01

A promise of first place, or of a position by a date

Google states in its own hiring advice that no one can promise a top ranking. A seller who does is either guessing or planning to report rankings for searches nobody makes.

How I confirm it. Ask which searches the promise covers, and check them in your Search Console Performance report.

  2. 02

Packages priced by keyword count or link count

A plan that sells a set number of keywords or backlinks each month treats the work as a quota. The keyword list and the ranking report grow while enquiries stay flat.

How I confirm it. Ask what changed on your site last month and which result it was meant to move.

  3. 03

Link bundles, guest posts and directory blasts

Bought links and unrelated guest posts break Google Search Essentials. Google also says you should never have to link to an SEO, and that mass submissions are useless.

How I confirm it. Ask for the list of links built, open a few, and judge whether a real reader would ever see them.

  4. 04

    Your accounts in their name

Some providers create the Business Profile, the analytics property or even the domain under their own email. When you leave, you lose access.

How I confirm it. Check that you are the primary owner of your Business Profile and a full user in Search Console.

  5. 05

    Secrecy about what was changed

Google advises caution with anyone who will not explain what they plan to do, and notes that you stay responsible for what a hired provider does to your site.

How I confirm it. Ask for a written log of every change, with the reason for it.

  6. 06

Offers that arrive out of the blue

Messages that say your site is "not listed in major search engines" are a known spam pattern. Google gets them too.

How I confirm it. Ignore unsolicited offers and start from your own list of providers.

Fake or bought reviews deserve their own warning. Some sellers offer review packages for a Business Profile. Google removes them and can suspend the listing. If that has already happened to you, read my guide to profiles suspended for breaking Google's rules before you appeal.

Cheap link work also causes a pattern I see often: traffic rises for a few months, then falls hard after an update. If that matches your chart, the checks in when traffic falls after a cheap campaign will help you find the cause before you spend more.

The questions to ask before you hire

Google suggests a set of interview questions. I have added what a good answer sounds like, so you can judge the reply rather than just collect it.

Ask thisA good answer sounds like
Can you show past work and results?Screenshots from Search Console, with the dates or the comparison period, and an honest note on what the result does not prove
Do you follow Google Search Essentials?A clear yes, with the things they refuse to do, such as buying links
What results do you expect, and when?A range tied to a baseline from your data, never a position by a date
What is your experience in my industry and my city?Specific examples, or an honest "not yet" with a reason why the method still applies
How will we talk, and will you share every change?A named person, a channel such as WhatsApp or email, and a written change log
Are you interested in my business?Questions about your customers, your competitors and how people find you today

Google also advises checking references with past clients, and giving anyone who audits your site read access to Search Console only. Read access is enough to diagnose almost anything. Full access can come later, once you trust the person.

A good expert will also ask you questions. Who are your best customers? Which city or area do they come from? Do they search in English, Urdu or Roman Urdu? Do enquiries arrive by phone, form or WhatsApp? If the first call is only a sales pitch, that tells you how the work will go.

Who should own your accounts

This is the part owners skip, and it causes the most damage later. Before any work starts, settle ownership of four things.

  • Your domain name is registered to you or your company, not to the person who built the site.
  • You are the primary owner of your Google Business Profile, and the expert is added as a manager.
  • You own the Google Search Console property, and the expert has their own login with the access level you choose.
  • Your analytics property sits under your account, so the history stays with you if you change provider.

Google lets an owner add managers to a Business Profile and remove them at any time. Search Console works the same way. When I start with a client, I ask to be added to their accounts. I do not create accounts in my name for a client's business. If you end the work, you remove my access and everything stays with you.

How the work runs when you are not in Lahore

I am based in Pakpattan, in Punjab. Most clients in Pakistan never meet me in person, and the work does not suffer for it. SEO happens in Search Console, in your site's admin area, and in shared documents. A video call shows a screen as well as a meeting room does.

  1. Step 01

A first message and a short call

You send your site and a few lines about the problem by WhatsApp or email. We talk for a short while about your customers, your city and what you have tried.

What this finds. Whether you need a one time audit, monthly work, a single call, or nothing from me.

  2. Step 02

Read access and a look at the data

You add me to Search Console and analytics. I crawl the site and compare what changed with when the numbers moved.

What this finds. The cause of the problem, written down, with the pages and dates behind it.

  3. Step 03

A written plan in order of impact

You get the fixes ranked, with who should make each one: me, your developer, or your writer.

What this finds. A plan you can check, start, and hold me to.

  4. Step 04

Monthly work and a review against the baseline

Each month I report what was done, what moved in your own data, and what comes next.

What this finds. A record you can show anyone, including the next provider you hire.

Remote work does change a few things. Your developer may sit in another city, so I write each technical fix as a ticket they can follow without a meeting. Your staff may answer the phone, so I ask how they record where a caller found you. For local businesses I check the map from your area, not from mine, because Map Pack results change with the searcher's location.

Notes for the four largest cities I cover

Each city page goes deeper into local detail. Here is what changes from one city to the next, and where to read more.

Lahore

Lahore is the biggest market in Punjab, and I work with businesses there remotely, as I do everywhere else. Many enquiries here come from clinics, shops, restaurants and service firms that compete in the same few neighbourhoods. For them the Business Profile, reviews and city service pages matter more than a blog. My page on working with me in Lahore covers local search in more depth.

Karachi

Karachi businesses often sell across the whole country or abroad, so national and export searches matter as much as local ones. Online stores, exporters and B2B suppliers are common clients for this kind of work. The work runs remotely, with calls and a shared plan. See notes for Karachi companies for the details.

Islamabad

Islamabad has many offices, consultancies, schools and tech firms, and many of them sell to clients outside the city. That makes English service pages and clear company information important. Read the Islamabad city guide for what I check first there.

Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi and Islamabad are next to each other, and many businesses serve both. Google asks a service area business to keep its area within about 2 hours of driving, and to set it as areas served rather than inventing addresses. A plumber or tutor here can serve both cities without a fake second office. The Rawalpindi city guide explains how to set that up.

I also work with businesses in other cities and towns across Pakistan. The method is the same. Only the competition, the searches and the language mix change.

English, Urdu or Roman Urdu

Owners often ask which language their pages should use. People in Pakistan search in all three, and the mix depends on the product and the buyer. A corporate buyer in Islamabad may search in English. A parent looking for a tutor may type Roman Urdu. A shopper may use both in one search.

Your Search Console data answers this better than any opinion, mine included. The Performance report shows the exact searches that already bring impressions. If many of them are Roman Urdu, a page or a section that uses those words is worth testing. If almost none are, an English page may be enough. I decide from that report, not from a guess about your market.

What I can show you, and what I cannot

You should judge any expert by published results with their limits stated. Here is my own record as an SEO expert in Pakistan, stated plainly. I have no published case study for a client based in Pakistan yet. The cases on this site come from businesses abroad. I say so because a hiring guide that hides this would break its own advice.

The cases still show the method, and the method does not change at the border. An international online store grew organic clicks by , from 2.74K to 18.4K, comparing the last 3 months with the 3 months before. A B2B services firm in North America and the UK grew clicks by over the same kind of comparison. A New Orleans electrician moved from an average Map Pack rank of on a geo-grid scan. A content site recorded impressions in a 3 month window.

None of those screenshots show exact dates, and none of them forecast your result. A business in Karachi or Lahore has different competitors and different searches. You can read the method and the limits of each one in the published cases and their limits. If you want to know more about me before you decide, read my background in plain words.

What hiring an SEO expert costs in PKR

Google does not charge anything to appear in organic results, and it never accepts money to rank a site. What you pay for is someone's time and skill. In Pakistan, prices vary a great deal between sellers. When you compare one SEO expert in Pakistan with another, compare what each invoice buys, not only the total. My prices are fixed and published, so you can do that here.

OptionPriceWhat it suits
Strategy callPKR 15,000 per hourA second opinion, or a few hard questions answered with your data on screen
Business Profile setupPKR 45,000 one timeA new or neglected profile for one location
Technical auditPKR 120,000 one timeThe full written diagnosis before you commit to monthly work
Local and growth starterPKR 85,000 per monthA single location business that wants local enquiries
Commercial growth retainerPKR 150,000 per monthOnline stores, B2B firms and businesses serving several cities
Market leader and scalePKR 280,000 per monthLarge catalogues and teams with their own engineers

The packages page lists what each monthly package includes, and what it leaves out. Many clients start with one call or the audit and decide on monthly work after that. If you would rather start from the type of work than the price, see the full service list.

Myths about hiring in Pakistan

Myth. The expert must be in your city.

What is true. Knowledge of your market matters more than distance. Google lists experience in your country or city as a question to ask, not a location rule.

Myth. More backlinks each month means more progress.

What is true. Links count only when real sites choose to link to you. Bought bundles break Google's rules and can hold a site back.

Myth. Paying for Google Ads helps organic rankings.

What is true. Google states that advertising has no effect on organic results.

Myth. A cheap monthly plan is a safe way to try SEO.

What is true. A cheap plan that builds bad links can cost more to undo than a proper audit would have cost at the start.

What the first months usually look like

  1. Week 1

    Diagnosis

You learn what is holding the site back, with the pages and dates behind it.

  2. Month 1

    First fixes live

The highest impact changes ship, from me or your developer.

  3. Month 3

    First honest comparison

We compare your data with the baseline and adjust the plan.

Technical and profile fixes can show within weeks, once Google sees the changes. Content and authority take longer. I cannot tell you when a page will rank, and I will not pretend to. What I can tell you is what changed, why, and what your data shows after it.

Frequently asked questions

Who are the top SEO experts in Pakistan?

I do not publish a ranked list, and you should be wary of lists written by the people who appear in them. Judge each person by published results with stated limits, by who owns your accounts, and by how clearly they explain the plan.

How much does an SEO expert cost in Pakistan?

Prices vary widely between sellers. Mine start at PKR 15,000 for an hour's call and PKR 85,000 per month for local work. Ask any seller what each month buys, in changes made to your site.

Is SEO paid or free?

Appearing in Google's organic results is free, and Google never takes money to rank a site. You pay for the time of whoever does the work, or you spend your own time on it.

Can a small business do its own SEO?

Often, yes. Google says a small local business can probably do much of the work itself, starting with its SEO starter guide. Hiring makes sense when the problem is technical, the stakes are high, or you lack the time.

Do I need an SEO expert in my own city?

No. Most of the work happens in Search Console, your website and shared documents. What matters is that the person checks the map and the searches from your area, not from theirs.

Can an SEO expert promise first place on Google?

No. Google says no one can promise a top ranking. A seller who promises one is either guessing or reporting on searches nobody makes.

Should I hire from a freelance marketplace?

You can, for small, clear tasks you can check yourself. Avoid gigs that sell a set number of links. Ask what will change on your site and how you will see it.

Who should own my Business Profile and Search Console?

You should. The expert should be added as a manager or user, not as the owner. Then you can remove access at any time without losing your listing or your data.

How do you work with clients outside Lahore?

By WhatsApp, email, video calls and shared documents. You give me read access first, then I send a written plan.

Do you have a client case from Pakistan?

Not a published one yet. The cases on this site come from businesses abroad, and each one states its limits. The method is the same in Pakistan, but your numbers will be different.
