AI search checker: can AI assistants read your page?

Paste an address. The check reads your robots.txt for AI search crawlers, tests whether the main text arrives without JavaScript, and looks for answer ready sections and structured data. It cannot tell you whether an assistant will cite you.

Key takeaway

This AI search checker scans the page you enter. It reads your robots.txt to see whether AI search crawlers may visit, checks whether the main text arrives without JavaScript, and looks for question and answer sections, structured data and llms.txt. It cannot tell you whether ChatGPT or Google will cite you. That needs real questions run by hand.

What the checker reads

The checker runs the same scan as the free one page SEO audit, with the AI search checks shown first. A server on this site fetches your page and robots.txt, then reports each check with what it found and how to fix it.

This is for you if

  • You want to know whether AI search crawlers are allowed in, and whether your page text reaches them.
  • You want a fix list you can hand to your developer, with a PDF copy.

Skip this if

  • You want to know whether an AI assistant names your business today. Only real questions run by hand show that.
  • You want a promise that ChatGPT or Google will cite you. Nobody outside those companies controls their answers.

What the checker cannot test, and how to check it yourself

A scan from the outside sees your files, not the answers AI tools give. These four checks need a browser, your Search Console account and a few questions.

  1. Step 01

    Firewall and CDN rules

Ask your developer or host whether a firewall, security plugin or CDN blocks bots. robots.txt can allow a crawler that the firewall still turns away, and the scan cannot see that.

What this finds. Crawlers that robots.txt lets in but the server blocks.

  2. Step 02

    Indexing in Google

In Google Search Console, use the URL Inspection tool on your key pages. Google says a page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet to appear as a link in AI Overviews or AI Mode.

What this finds. Pages Google's AI features cannot link to, because Google has not kept them.

  3. Step 03

Structured data that matches the page

Run your key pages through Google's Rich Results Test. Compare what the markup says with what a visitor sees. Google says structured data should match the visible text.

What this finds. Markup that claims things the page does not show.

  4. Step 04

    Real questions

Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google the questions your buyers ask, in the language they use. Note who is named, and which sites are cited.

What this finds. Whether you appear, and which sources the answers trust instead.

The llms.txt check is the odd one out. It is a plain text summary file some sites put at their root. Google's guidance for its AI features does not ask for one and says there are no extra technical requirements. It does no harm, so the checker gives it low weight and never fails a page for it.

Which crawler does what

Blocking the wrong bot is the most common mistake I see in robots.txt files. The names sound alike, but they do different jobs.

CrawlerWho runs itWhat blocking it does
GooglebotGoogleStops Google reading the pages, so they cannot show with a snippet or as links in AI Overviews and AI Mode
OAI-SearchBotOpenAIKeeps your site out of ChatGPT search answers
GPTBotOpenAIStops collection for training. It does not affect ChatGPT search
PerplexityBotPerplexityKeeps your pages out of the index Perplexity answers from
ClaudeBotAnthropicStops collection for training

OpenAI treats the two settings as separate. You can allow search and block training if you prefer, and the checker does not mark you down for blocking training crawlers. Common myths about AI visibility

Advice about AI search often sounds firmer than the sources support.

Myth. An llms.txt file is needed before AI tools will read your site.

What is true. Google says no extra technical requirements apply to its AI features. The file is optional and is not a fix on its own.

Myth. A fixed word count under each heading gets you quoted.

What is true. Clear answers help, but Google says no special optimization is needed beyond normal SEO. Pages still have to rank and be indexed first.

Myth. A full score on this checker means AI tools will cite you.

What is true. The score shows that crawlers may read the page and can find the text. Being cited depends on your rankings, your reputation and the question asked.

What happens to the address you type

The address goes to this site's server, which fetches your page and site files, runs the checks and sends the report back to your screen. The scan code does not save the address, the pages it fetched or your report. A Cloudflare Turnstile check and a limit of 5 scans a minute stop bots from misusing it. No name, email or phone number is asked for.

The WhatsApp button under the report opens a message with your page address and score. Nothing reaches me until you send it.

What I can show you, and what I cannot

I have no published case with screenshots showing a business moving into AI answers, so this page shows no AI visibility number. AI answers also change from one person to the next, which makes single screenshots weak proof.

What I do have is the normal search work AI features draw on. Google counts traffic from its AI features inside the Search Console Performance report, under the Web search type. It does not show as a separate line, so watch your normal clicks and impressions.

Notes for businesses in Pakistan

People in Pakistan ask AI tools in English, in Roman Urdu, and sometimes in Urdu. Run your test questions in the language your customers use, since the cited sources can change with the language.

Many sites built here sit behind hosting firewalls or security plugins with strict bot rules. Before you rewrite any content, ask your developer what those rules block. Local directories also matter, because AI answers about a city often cite them. Keeping your business listed the same way on directories is part of the plain work behind AI visibility.

What to do next, and what it costs

If your checks show a blocked crawler, the fix is usually one change by your developer. If the crawlers can reach you but you still never appear, the cause is often weak regular rankings or thin page text, and that takes longer.

OptionPriceBest when
Strategy callPKR 15,000 per hourYou want to run the checks with me and make the fixes yourself
Technical SEO auditPKR 120,000 one time, 7 to 10 business daysYou want crawler access, indexing, page text, and markup checked in one report
Market leader and scalePKR 280,000 per monthYou run a large site and want AI search work as part of ongoing SEO

A call is the cheapest start: book an hour to go through the four checks. For a written report, the site audit with a ranked fix list covers crawler rules and indexing in depth. Monthly AI work sits in AI search work done month by month. To compare budgets, the price of each monthly plan lists what every plan includes.

Firewall and crawl problems on larger sites are part of hands on technical SEO.

Frequently asked questions

Does this AI search checker scan my website?

Yes, one page at a time. It reads the page and your robots.txt, runs the AI checks first, and also shows the full SEO scan of that page. It does not test what AI assistants actually answer.

How can I tell if ChatGPT can crawl my site?

Open your robots.txt file and look for rules that block OAI-SearchBot or all bots. Then ask your host or developer whether a firewall or CDN blocks it. Sites that block OAI-SearchBot are not shown in ChatGPT search answers.

Do I need an llms.txt file?

Not for Google. Google says its AI features have no extra technical requirements. The file does no harm, but crawler access, indexing, and clear page text matter far more.

Will schema markup get me into AI Overviews?

Not by itself. Google says a page must be indexed and eligible for a snippet, and that structured data should match the visible text. Markup helps Google read a page. It does not replace rankings.

Where do I see AI Overview traffic?

In the Search Console Performance report, under the Web search type. Google includes AI feature traffic there rather than in a separate report.

Is the address I type saved anywhere?

No. The server fetches your page to run the checks, then sends the report to your screen without saving the address or the result.

Do you have results for AI visibility?

Not published ones. I do not show a number for AI answers on this site, because I have no case with screenshots to back it.
